Ghostland Observatory with the UT band and Orchestra

Last night was the grand opening of Bass concert hall after it was closed for remodeling.  In order to showcase all the new features, they had a wide range of music for the bill, from opera to old American ballads to choral to jazz… to the most awesome finale featuring Ghostland Observatory. The University of Texas band and orchestra played alongside them!

they’re finally getting it

Unreal Tournament 3 logoOr, maybe just CliffyB is getting it. The Gamespy preview for Unreal Tournament 3 (for the Playstation 3) says that it will have keyboard and mouse functionality, along with the regular PS3 controller.

For those of you hardcore PC purists, mouse and keyboard controls will be available in the PS3 version through the USB ports on the front of the machine.

We’ve long waited for this to happen, us original players of the FPS, on the PC. Here’s hoping that this isn’t a one-time thing, or a one-developer thing. Playing first person shooters with thumb-based console controllers is like running through a battlefield with dislocated arms. The aftermarket options for playing Halo with mouse and keyboard didn’t quite cut it. Heck, they could even make a weird mouse and keypad contraption proprietary to the PS3, and I’d give it a go.

I wasn’t really considering getting a Playstation 3, mainly because of its exorbitant price. But if the shooters released for that console all follow suit, I’ll start saving my pennies.

University of Texas Football are the National Champions!

wooohooo! We won 41-38 over USC. What a beautiful feeling.

It’s even the more so because I am also back at UT as a student this year.

What a fabulous game, that one is a classic for all time. I almost had a heart attack in the last 5 minutes, and my voice is almost completely gone.

Vince was phenomenal, that last second touchdown was stunning… he just kept running. Thomas was the go-to guy all night, and I’ve admired him ever since he donned the Texas uniform. The whole offensive line gets extreme kudos for protecting Vince all night long. I mean, they were like an impenetrable force that let him do his thing.

6th street is exploding right now. Hell, all of Austin is. It was beautiful seeing all that burnt orange filling the stands at the Rose Bowl.

GO HORNS!!!!!
