Leaf Texture – First to 500px

I recently came across 500px as a gallery site, and I really like it. The portfolio, image viewer, quality of photos, submission and ranking, and ease of use is really good, and they are currently working on Lightroom exporters and such.

They need to work on the search and tagging a bit, I think Flickr still beats them in that capacity. Anyways, I am not here to review (yet), but to post my first photo uploaded on their site.

I’ll continue to post things to Flickr, but I’m starting to transition to 500px for a trial period. If it compares favorably to Flickr end up buying a year of their service, I will probably not renew my Flickr Pro.

edit: well, it seems to post in only one size, which is a bit bigger than the column width. I will figure it out later.

Rainy Day Experiments

It was pouring rain all day today, so I used the time to set up a little water drop lab and kept experimenting with it. Here’s a blue drop of soy milk into water.

This is taken with my new Tamron 70-300 lens, and using the built-in flash.
