Creepy but fascinating evolution of a parasite wasp that literally does brain surgery on roaches to turn them into zombies. It then rides the roach by controlling the roaches antennas, and turns it into a living host for its offspring.

Ok in this article, from the Miami Herald, it shows a Parhelia seen in Florida. Everyone gets all freaked out saying it’s the Armageddon and whatnot.
I saw this exact same phenomena when I was in about 7th or 8th grade. I lived in 29 Palms California. I remember I was at school, at recess, and all of a sudden everyone was trying to stare at the sun. There was kindof an eerie glow. It was bright (it’s always damn bright in the desert) but it was a very white bright… not the usual yellow sun-glow.
Looking up I saw a bright rainbow completely circling the sun. It was hard to loook at because the sun was so close to it, but shielding the sun with your hand You could see it pretty good. I had no idea what it was until today
. Anyways, the first picture turned out really well, so let’s take a friendly rip off the Miami Herald page (I know, I know I should really host these on my site, instead of loading them from other sites, but I don’t care right now):
