<p><p>Looks like there is a <i>chance</i> that gasoline may be able to be produced from Carbon Dioxide.  That is, <i>efficiently</i>.  Sure they can do it now, but it takes more energy to crank out the gas than ever can be  utilized from the fuel.  From <a href="http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99992620">this article</a>, they are making methane, butane, etc. already at very very feasible temperatures (300 degrees) and pressures (100 psi).  Hell you could almost make it in your kitchen.</p>
<p>As I read earlier about another article I&#8217;m going to post (when I find it again) on HardOCP: &#8220;Hell, if it did work, the oil companies would have already offed him by now.&#8221;</p>
