Wow, this site is awesome! It shows a great way to get your phone removed from telemarketer’s lists. I was going to sign up for that new Texas program where you can get your name removed from lists for $2.95 by Federal Law (I may still do that), but this way is even better.
Apparently, anytime the machine that autodials for telemarketing companies encounters the 3-tone “number cannot be reached” signal, it disconnects and removes your number from their lists. This site recommends (and provides the tones for) adding the tri-tone to the very beginning of your answering machine message.
Seems like it can’t hurt, unless your family or friends hang up after hearing that tone immediately.
